A visit from Kaitie and Kevin

It has been about a year since we have seen my sister and brother in law.

They came on Tuesday for a visit.

The older ones were excited right away when they pulled up.
(The littles were sleeping.)

When the littles woke up, Callie was excited.  Justice remembered them.  Seren wanted to go hide - at least at first!  It didn't take her long to warm up though!

Judah wasn't so sure.  But that is very typical of a baby in the throws of separation anxiety!

They had fun playing 'Monkey in the Middle' with a Frisbee.

We had a bit of time to visit and catch up, and then I was able to get a picture before they had to go.

Thanks for stopping by!  Come again soon!

Animal (mostly chick!) Update

Ashley and Lady, her borrowed 4H dog who comes to visit now and then.

We have 7 older chicks, and 6 tiny chicks at the moment!

These are the 'older chicks' who hatched about 2 months ago.

And here is one of the newest chick additions!

The new coop is working wonderfully!  The chickens have settled in and at night, they are heading back there as their new home.

the old coop is working very well to give the chicks more space.  We plan on moving them into the big coop in about 2 more weeks.  We are trying to get the space cleared out for some meat chicks.  We are going to give raising our own meat chickens a try this year!

Another Look at the Ice Caves Trip

Callie's accomplishment was so great that it deserves its own post!

She walked ALL THE WAY THERE!  1.1 miles!  This is almost double her longest walk so far.

She worked so hard to keep her feet straight!

And she wanted to climb on, and get closer to everything her siblings did!

For the first 2/3 of the way there, Callie led the way!

Only taking a hand when we insisted on it because of a steep drop off.

She fell a total of 6 times in 1.1 miles!

And for the last little bit, probably the last .1-.2 miles, her Daddy stuck out the very slow pace that Callie needed to be able to finish on her own two feet!  She really, REALLY wanted to be able to walk all the way there, and she did it!  Though at times, Christopher had to remind her that she really wanted to make it ALL the way on her own.  At times, he said she would just sit down in the middle of the path, saying she was too tired...and he told her that she could do it.

In the end, she went ALL the way there.

Not most of the way, but ALL the way!

This is a very tired Callie finishing up her walk to the ice caves.
1.1 miles all by herself.  Wow!

She played on the glacier, then rode in the stroller on the way down.

WAY TO GO, MISS CALLIE!

You did it!

We are so proud of you!

(And she is very proud of herself, too!  She keeps asking if we remember when she walked all the way to the ice caves by herself!)

Unexpected Educational Experiences

Anna came to me last Tuesday and said that she really wants to study spiders.

I told her that would be just fine with me...

Then I looked at my camera...and found these...

Anna and Justice watched as the fly struggled, tangling itself more and more in the spider's web...until it couldn't move, and the spider was able to come in for the kill!

I love the way my children can find educational experiences in practically everything!

Big Four Ice Caves

We had a beautiful day for a short walk!

Big 4 Ice Caves Trail is about 1.1 miles each way...which is just about all that we can handle with all of our littles, lol!

It was a beautiful walk.  God has made some wondrous sights for us to see and behold, and for us to praise the Creator for the works of His hands!

Serenity was all done by this time!
