Getting Read for Serenity Faith!

In the last couple days, I got out the bins of outgrown clothes, organized them, found my newborn girl clothes, purchased near perfect condition newborn cloth diapers (in a GREAT deal from Craigslist), and went through all the clothes with the girls oohing and ahing appropriately! (In fact, actually FOLDING to put AWAY was difficult because they wanted to play with the clothes, lol!)

Here are some of my favorite comments from this full blown "Event!"

"Oh, look at this one, I love it! I think it is my favorite" Brianna said - to every outfit she picked up, lol!

"This is my favorite, I think I wore this a lot when I was a baby. I am sure I loved it!" Ashley said to every dress she picked up!

"Oh, look at this one! Mom, could Serenity Faith where this one first?" Anna commented to about every 3rd outfit she picked up!

"Oh, I remember when Callie wore this one, she was so cute in it, I can't wait to put Serenity in it!" Bailey said frequently, then added at the end, "But Mom, when newborns are so floppy and can't hold themselves, how do you dress them?" (Oh, how quickly we forget :) I told her I would show her when the new baby gets here!

"Oh, wow! Look at this little one! It's so cute!" Callie said to each diaper she folded, lol! With just the perfect voice inflection to make this my favorite comment of them all!

I found as I was putting things away after Callie (and even getting some things out!), that after 4-5 girls, my clothes are looking pretty dingy and stained and snaps do not work as well as they once did, etc...so I got rid of lots of things! I still have a good start, particularly in preemie things (which were mostly new with Callie!), but I will need to fill in the newborn and up sizes! Good thing it is garage sale season!

Lovely day for a picnic at church

Yesterday was the annual picnic at Snohomish Community Church. The girls had a good time. Unfortunately, circumstances made it so I had to drive separately (basically, I didn't get up early enough to get everyone bathed/dressed/hair done/fed in time!), and with the allergies I have had, we had to leave early or risk me not being able to make it driving home safely...

As it was, we had to make 2 stops on the way home, waiting for my allergies to clear...I was able to make it to a park for one of the, so everyone got to play that time! God is good all the time!

A fun afternoon with family!

Chris' cousin, Melissa threw a party for her 2 nephews, Jericho and Jordan, whose birthdays are both in June, who are in town visiting (along with their mom, Stacey). Everyone had a lot of fun playing in Melissa's pool and on their big swing! We also sang Happy Birthday to Jordan, Jericho and Justice! Melissa even got Justice a present in celebration of HIS birthday earlier this week! (Which is more than the rest of us have done for him, lol! Fortunately, he will never know the difference...Not sure if we will get him anything...maybe some new, bigger diaper covers that are not too tight? That would be a good one! Or maybe a zoo pass for all of us to enjoy?)

I also had to include a picture of Justice enjoying his cake last night at home church! It is such a good '1st birthday cake picture!' He really enjoyed himself!

Ultrasound Update

The ultrasound technician was very nice about their 2 extra people in the ultra sound room at a time rule...she let my older 4 come in with me for the whole thing if they wanted!

The first thing she did was to do a once over on the baby to see orientation. While she did this, I was able to get a pretty good glimpse between the legs of our newest little girl! That's right, we are having a GIRL! The tech waited until the end to reveal the gender (as is typical), which about drove the girls crazy! They kept asking if we could go look to see if this baby is a boy or girl yet...Overall, I was very impressed with how much the twins were able to identify in the ultra sound!

Her name is Serenity Faith. We are all very excited to be having another little girl! Especially Anna and Ashley, who really wanted another sister. Bailey and Breezy have taken a little time to come around to the idea, but are getting more and more excited as time goes on! Brianna was sad initially because it meant that Justice doesn't have a "boy buddy in our family." I have explained that he doesn't know either way, and will enjoy the baby because it is a new baby in the house.

Wonderful, Sunny Day!

We got to get out, enjoy the long awaited sunshine and each other's company today! I really love spending time with my children!

We started off going to see Veggie Tales, The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything at Regal Cinemas for free...almost free! We buy the really big movie popcorn as it helps keep the babies quiet and still for the movie, lol! It is the first time I have seen it all the way through! And the first time in 3 years, that both of my babies at the time were able to sit all the way through quietly enough that we didn't have to leave at all! It was amazing! Justice did so well sitting there eating about 2/3 of the giant tub of popcorn, lol! Callie and Breezy finished an entire tub between them and the rest of us finished off that last 1/3 of the tub, lol!

Then we met our homeschool group at the park for the end of the school year party. It was fun to see several families who came out. It was a little sad knowing this is likely the last event I will make with the homeschool group. We were at a wonderful park that we had never been to before! The girls had a blast!

Not many pictures today as there were just too many kids around to get just my children for the blog. I had to take them to a secluded area on our way out to get the picture I did, lol!

Happy Birthday, Justice!

It is amazing to me that it has been an entire year...wow, time goes so fast! Justice has grown so much in the last year! As all babies do, he has gone from this tiny helpless baby to a little person with his own unique personality. What a blessing to be a witness throughout this year!

Justice is such a happy baby! He is so content and loves to play with everyone and anyone. He also plays so well by himself! He loves to explore things. Currently, his favorite toys are balls. He loves to chase them around the house! He is able to stand for about 20-25 seconds by himself, but has yet to take that first step. I am pretty sure it is coming in about another month. (I don't think he is ready for it confidence wise!)

It reminds me to really take advantage of each day I have with them and cherish each one. Tomorrow each of my children will be bigger, stronger and able to do more things. Today will only happen once, and if I miss it, it is gone forever. What a blessing that I get to be here, day in and day out, teaching, training, encouraging each of them, seeing their milsestones and drying their tears! I know at some point in the future, I will look back and long for these days, when I have babies at home, diapers to change, several people who need me for different things, etc.

Happy Father's Day

I have the most amazing, wonderful husband! He is willing to let things go, knowing some days are harder than others. He is willing to go get me something from the store, even if it is just a want and not something needed. He is willing to run quick errands for me, like when we just need more milk, so I don't have to pack everyone up to go. He is always thinking of others first. He is willing to go without in order to give more to his family. He is willing to jump in and help me when a project proves to be too much (like yesterday trying to figure out what to do with all the stuff that came out of the garage, lol!).

He is the best father I could ever have imagined for my children. I am honored that he choose me to be his wife and bear his children! He works so hard to provide for us and then some! He enjoys leading our family in worship of God, gets up extra early to read the Bible to us each morning, loves to rough house and play frisbee with the girls, he likes teaching the girls new things and doing science projects with them. He enjoys including them in what he is doing to train them as he goes about his day.

He also enjoys doing things one on one with the girls, which usually means taking just one or 2 of them along with him when he goes to get his coffee in the morning. He likes to be able to talk with the individually, and get them a special treat at the store to show them how special they are.

He really goes above and beyond as both a husband and father! On this Father's Day, we want to recognize him for all of his hard work. All of our children would like to say:

"HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! We love you!"

What is your favorite thing about your Daddy?

Anna, "I love it when he does snuggles with me."
Bailey, "I love how gentle he is, and how much he loves me!"
Ashley, "I like to sit next to him and cuddle with him and also when he takes me places with just Daddy and me!"
Brianna, "I like it when I ask if he is up in his shop and if he is busy, and he says I can come up to play the drums with him!"
Callie, "I like when he swings me."

Happy Father's Day, my Love! You are truly amazing! Thank you for all that you do! We love you very much!

And More Progress!

We got more done today than I had even anticipated! Fortunately Chris and Mom were able to help me after 3 this afternoon with getting the mess outside put where it goes - And I am so thankful for this as I am sore, and tired, and I don't think I would have finished that part without them!

Here are some pics of what the garage/classroom looks like now...

I have been hard at work in the garage for almost 3 hours now. And it is almost cleared out!

The first 3 pictures were taken at 8:30 this morning...the last 3 (along with my audience!) were taken at 10 am. I am hoping to have it all pressure washed by about noon...

I need some help to get the big shelf the rest of the way out...I didn't see how tall it was with the stuff on top of it, and now it is stuck...and I can't get it to budge! So, before Dad and Chris go to the property, I am hoping they will be willing to help me out - otherwise, I am grabbing a broom to sweep the walls and ceiling and then I am ready to start pressure washing the floor! First I need to get some breakfast though, as I feel like I am running on empty!

Homeschool Field Day

A friend we met in choir last year put together a field day for homeschoolers at her house. My girls had so much fun! I have not actually been able to drive this week because of my allergies..so I was blessed that she allowed my niece and nephew to tag along and that my MIL (who is watching my niece and nephew) was able to drive. Now MIL has taken all 6 of them (my 4 olders + niece and nephew) to see Toy Story 3, and I am getting ready to take a nap while my babies are sleeping!

We had gunny sack races, Frisbee distance toss, relay races, 50 yard dash, bean bag toss, giant basket ball hoops, soccer goals, long jump, obstacle course and probably others that I have left out! Here's some pictures of the girls. (There were many children there, but I tried to keep others out of the pictures so I didn't have to worry about asking if their children can be on the blog!)

We also had a sun break in the constant rain we have had just for today! Looking at the forcast, we go back to rain soon, so this was the perfect day to do this!

Callie was not able to participate in the games, but she did get a good workout pulling her walker through the grass, climbing up to slide and swinging! I felt like she got some good pt time in!

Sacrifice of Praise

I remember reading Hebrews 13:15 (Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name) as a new Christian and not understanding how it could be a sacrifice to offer praise to God. After all, God is good all the time. So how could it be possible to have to sacrifice to praise Him?

As is true with many things, maturity and time have given me some insight to this! I have been reminded of this and the importance of the truth to offering up this sacrifice of praise while dealing with horrible allergies on and off for almost 3 months now. I have been miserable. Honestly, between the pregnancy (which has been my most emotional pregnancy yet!) and allergies, most days, I don't feel like getting out of bed, let alone getting meals made, people dressed and moving, school done, errands run, laundry washed, etc!

But if I first start my day offering a sacrifice of praise to my God, even when I don't FEEL like it, or even WANT to do it, even when I would rather be sleeping or ignoring responsibility given to me by Him, even when it means giving of time and energy that I don't feel like I have to give...He gives back 10 fold! When I will take the time to put Him in His proper place in my life, Lord of all, and take the time to lift my hands in praise, read (and obey!) His word, and trust in His promises, things fall into place. All of a sudden, I have enough energy to get what needs to be done accomplished. I am able to get through at least the bare minimums and usually more than that. I give Him the blah, ickiness of how I am feeling, and He restores my soul. His grace is sufficient for me. He sustains me. He gives me the strength to keep going!

That doesn't mean things are perfect, and there are times that I will choose to wallow in my own misery, and allow myself to be deceived by my feelings, which leads to depression (at least for me!)...but each time I choose God's way, His promises never return void! His is faithful each and every time! Today has been one such day that I struggled to do what I knew I needed to do...offer up my sacrifice of praise...but now that I have, I feel renewed, as if I have been lifted up on wings like eagles! I am a new creation in Christ!

God is good all the time! Today we have Petra, The Rock Cries Out playing to lead us in our worship time. I will let it continue to play for the rest of the morning as I need to continually be reminded of the importance of giving this to God and leaving it with Him...today's pictures are of the girls, offering up their praise and worship to the amazing God we serve!

I love my family!

What a great day! We were able to get school done, get basic chores done, make some cookies, work in the garden, move more things out of the garage, play outside together, have a BBQ, and enjoy each other's company! I absolutely LOVE my family! I honestly wouldn't choose to be anywhere else when I could be with them! What could be better than this? I praise God and give Him the glory for days like this.

Oh, and Chris was able to build Callie a platform swing for therapy use. Callie's therapist will be here on Thursday to teach me how to use it with her! Thank you so much for all you do for our family, my Love! You are an amazing blessing!

Now that all of my children are in bed, I am making a special dinner for DH and I to have a date night in!

Earliest 1st haircut ever in my household!

I have been asked (even though he is the only one NOT dressed in pink the last few outings!) if we have all girls...with the hair going out all over the place, including over his ears and not laying down at all (unless very freshly washed as in the pictures today!), I decided to go ahead and cut the hair that was going over his ears. I am not saying it is the best that could have been done, but it is the first time I have cut hair on anyone under 2 years old, and I do think it is an improvement! (I can now stop trying to get his hair to lay down, lol!) Anna helped with taking some pictures. (Thanks, Anna!) I should have taken the before picture when his hair was dirtier and sticking out all over the place! His hair is very different from the girls...not like the fine baby hair, but very course...it always has been this way!

For comparison, Callie is 2 1/2, and has not had her first hair cut, Brianna had her first hair cut just after 4 years old, and the twins had their first hair cuts the day after their 3rd birthday...Ashley got an early haircut by her sisters, then I had someone else fix it for me...she was just over 2 years old at the time!
